Gwen Stefani launched her musical career in the mid nineties as the lead singer of Californian rock outfit No Doubt. Formed in Anaheim, No Doubt was originally Stefani's brother Eric's band. He asked her to join as their vocalist in the mid eighties. Their first album didn't break any records, but their second album "The Beacon Street Collection", released on their own label in 1995, made critics and fans sit up and listen. Stefani's powerful vocals and extraordinarily energetic and passionate stage performances were unmissable and as a live act No Doubt started to earn a loyal following. With the release of 1995's "Tragic Kingdom" featuring smash hits "Just A Girl" and "Don't Speak", Stefani became a superstar and toured the album globally with the band for over two years. After worldwide success with an evolving sound that took No Doubt from ska punk roots through reggae fusion and back again, Stefani decided to break out on her own to release "Love, Angel, Music, Baby", a more dance oriented offering which saw her working with other artists such as Nellee Hooper, Linda Perry, New Order and Andre 3000. Released in 2004, the album also featured collaborations with Eve and Dr. Dre and this new wave, electro inspired sound took her to a wider audience, seeing the record chart at number 7 in the Billboard charts its first week. With the massive single "Hollaback Girl" the album also produced the first US download single to sell over a million copies. She followed this up with 2006's "The Sweet Escape". This year promises fans Stefani's third solo album "This Is What The Truth Feels Like" following the February 2017 release of single "Make Me Like You". As she has been working with artists Eminem, Pharrell Williams and Sia on recent collaborations, the next album is sure to be a further evolution of Stefani's sound.
